Wire draw encoder

Position sensors that function according to the cable extension principle are referred to as wire draw encoders. The sensor system consists of a wire draw mechanism and a rotary encoder. The core element of the wire draw encoder is a bobbin around which a single layer of wire is wound. The wire is wound up onto the bobbin via a spring. The resolution of a wire draw encoder is determined by the relation between the bobbin circumference and the resolution of the rotary encoder.
