A dangerous state is any state of a machine or plant/system that can lead to injury of people.
Examples:
- Machine movements
- Moving vehicles
- Live electrical parts
- Visible and invisible beams
- A combination of multiple hazards
In many illustrations, the dangerous state of a machine is depicted as the movement of a machine part.
