Safety integrity level

The safety integrity level (SIL) is one of three discrete levels possible. It is used to specify the safety integrity requirements of the safety functions that are assigned to the safety-related system. Safety integrity level 3 corresponds to the highest safety level, while safety integrity level 1 is the lowest.
