Q: Where does the name SICK come from?
A: SICK is the last name of our founder Dr.-Ing. h. c. Erwin Sick.

A: SICK is a leading manufacturer of factory, logistics, and process automation technology worldwide.  With more than 1000 patents for photoelectric sensors, safety solutions, machine vision, encoders and automatic identification solutions.  SICK continues to lead the industry in new product innovations. The diversity of its product line allows SICK to offer solutions at every phase of production in the automotive,  packaging, electronics, food and beverage, consumer goods, logistics, gas analysis, dust monitoring, flow measurement and material handling industries.

Q: How long has SICK been in business?
A:  SICK, Inc, the North American subsidiary of SICK was established in 1976.  SICK Product & Competence Center Americas, LLC (PCA), the shared services, manufacturing and production subsidiary was established in 2017.Our headquarters are located in Minneapolis, MN, and we have sales offices throughout the U.S. and Canada.  Our goal is to help our clients achieve their goals: high production rates, short processing times, safe environments and consistent high quality.  We design and manufacture our cost-effective products to achieve a high level of precision, reliability and versatility.

There are 500 US employees, and 7000+ employees worldwide.

Q: Where are SICK's locations?
A: In the US, we have locations in Bloomington, MN; Savage, MN; Stoughton, MA; and Houston, TX.  We also have locations in Canada and Mexico.  Our corporate headquarters are in Germany, and we have many other international offices in Europe and Asia.

Q: How do I know if you have received my resume?
A:
If you submitted your application through our online system, you can rest assured that we have received your resume.  Due to the number of resumes we receive, it may take several weeks for your resume to be reviewed.  If your qualifications closely meet the needs of the position you applied for, you may be contacted for an interview.

Q: What happens after I apply for a position?
A:
After you submit your resume, Human Resources may contact you if your education, skills, and qualifications meet our position requirements.  Below is our typical selection process:

  • Resume is received via the online system
  • Applications are screened to determine which candidates to share with the hiring manager
  • Phone interviews are conducted
  • In person interviews are conducted
  • A conditional job offer is made to the best candidate
  • Background check and drug and alcohol screen
  • Verbal offer of employment
  • Formal offer letter sent to candidate

Q: Is the information provided during the online application process secure?
A: Yes, the information you provide during the online application process is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol. SSL encrypts your information during transmission to our recruitment management system.
