Advanced AS/NZS 4024 Machine Safety Training

Join a seminar presented by SICK Machinery Safety experts focusing on AS/NZS 4024 for Australia and New Zealand and relevant international standards such as ISO 13849-1 and IEC 62061. You will gain an understanding of Australian and New Zealand legislation related to safety of machinery, learning from our industry leading experts.

Your trainers are SICK Certified Safety Specialists and are also independently certified by SGS-TÜV Saar as Certified Functional Safety Application Experts (CFSAE). SICK trainers have many years of experience in machinery safety.

This Advanced level seminar will take you through the development of a safety concept and determining the safety functions.  It is designed as a follow-on from the ‘Fundamentals’ seminar and can be attended immediately after this seminar or independently, depending on your training history and level of understanding. Our trainers can give you guidance on this aspect on request.

We start the day with a short recap on the main topics in the Fundamentals seminar, then explore the more advanced topics. Learn the process of verifying the safety functions in accordance AS/NZS 4024.1503 & ISO 13849-1. Determine the Performance Level achieved, compared to the Performance Level required, in the preparation of the design of a safety system.

You will complete hands on practical exercises, building and verifying each safety function using  SISTEMA software.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understanding of Functional Safety

o   Understand which factors contribute to a Performance Level

o   How to define a Performance Level

  • Development of a safety concept
  • Determining the safety functions required
  • Introduction to SISTEMA
  • Understanding the use of SISTEMA by way of practical exercises to:

o   Build safety functions from selected components

o   Complete verification of selected components for each safety function design and determine the overall PL achieved for the safety function

o   Complete verification of existing safety functions and components to determine the PL achieved

o   Compare the PL achieved to the PL required.

o   Document and develop reporting of verification

Prerequisites:

  • Your own laptop computer with the latest version of SISTEMA installed.
  • Completion of AS/NZS 4024 Machine Safety - Fundamentals training or have existing good knowledge of Functional Safety.
