SICK AppSpace – engineering framework for your sensor applications
All applications. All technologies. One eco-system.
An eco-system in which you develop individualized SensorApps for your sensors either alone or together with SICK experts. For all applications and all technologies - undertaken by a dynamic community of developers.
SICK AppSpace in tangible terms: There are already clever solution for many applications, e.g. track and trace, positioning tasks, robot guidance systems or quality control.
Safe and centralized management of SensorApps - worldwide
Access to StandardApps, CustomApps with individual adaptations, DemoApps for various applications, SampleApps as the basis for development and AppTemplates for additional configuration
Wide range of connections with 25 interfaces for Ethernet-based fieldbuses, cameras, illumination, sensors, encoders, and more besides
8-gigabit Ethernet interfaces for rapid image transmission
Fieldbus and Ethernet interfaces with communication protocols such as OPC-UA and MQTT provide preprocessed data (edge computing) for the control and for cloud computing in parallel “dual talk”, thereby allowing networking for digital factories.
Precise synchronization of input and output signals
SICK AppSpace – engineering framework for your individualized sensor applications
An eco-system in which you develop individualized SensorApps for your sensors either alone or together with SICK experts. For all applications and all technologies - undertaken by a dynamic community of developers. Your individualized SensorApps are created on the basis of our intelligent software tools and algorithms. Our existing solutions for track and trace, positioning tasks, robot guidance systems or quality control can be adapted to your individual needs. Or completely new SensorApps can be created in line with your requirements and absolutely tailored to your systems. SICK AppSpace provides assistance with a range of devices and technologies, such as 2D vision, 3D vision, LiDAR, RFID or integration products.
Advantages
A large degree of investment security with the use of an eco-system for a wide range of SICK devices for RFID, 2D vision, 3D vision, LiDAR, or integration products
Enables simple edge computing
Quick and efficient development of tailor-made SensorApps specially tuned to your requirements
A high degree of flexibility due to a high degree of freedom in the development of SensorApps
Reduced amount of development work required thanks to option of reusing SensorApps on various programmable devices
An overview - a brief explanation of the SICK AppSpace eco-system
Community
The SICK Support Portal offers help from the community with tutorials, sample apps videos and a ticketing system. The SICK AppSpace Developers Conference enables open innovation and networking in BarCamps and workshops.
Software
SICK AppStudio offers a comprehensive environment for the development of SensorApps. The SensorApps are managed and installed via the SICK AppManager. SICK AppPool is the platform for the safe and centralized exchange of SensorApps.
Hardware
The sensors are programmed directly for the application via SensorApps. Sensor Integration Machines are used as the data interface and for the real-time fusion of sensor data.
Designing the future together – A strong community of developers
As a member of the SICK AppSpace Developers Club, you are automatically part of the community of the SICK AppSpace Developers Club. This means you are always at the forefront when it comes to developing tailor-made applications based on SensorApps and programmable devices. Take advantage of countless benefits, including the annual SICK AppSpace Developers Conference, which offers you the chance to actively participate in the future development of the SICK AppSpace.

Technology partners
SICK is building upon long-term partnerships in the integration of software in the eco-system.
MVTec and HALCON The partnership with MVTec Software GmbH, which has been going strong since 2010, has been continuously expanded with the implementation of the extensive standard software HALCON for image processing for SICK AppSpace. The flexible software architecture allows for quick application development for industrial image processing and image analysis. The extensive image processing library is the perfect supplement to SICK's own algorithms and ensures very easy integration into the devices.Silicon Software Some programmable devices contain multi-core processors with FPGA-based hardware support (so-called co-processors). With VisualApplets, Silicon Software GmbH has made FPGA programming even more intelligent. Tailor-made algorithms can be created via drag-and-drop with graphic data flow charts and are transmitted to additional devices in just a few steps. To speed up applications or algorithms, SICK is offering a VisualApplet development service on request.
