Equipped with a new groundbreaking object detection system: the port of KhorFakkan

The main task of Gulftainer Company Limited is control and operation of the container terminals in the ports of Khalid and KhorFakkan. One of the Gulftainer subsidiaries in the Indian Ocean (KhorFakkan Container Terminal, KCT) is located in the port of KhorFakkan, United Arab Emirates. KCT operates 20 quay cranes for loading and unloading container ships. Due to the high cost of ship idle times, interruptions during docking or delays when loading and unloading must be avoided – after all, time is money.

Position determination

SICK's sensors assist in correctly positioning and detecting freight and other objects. They record data and transmit it to the relevant controller to ensure that every item of cargo reaches its destination in one piece.

Measuring

Sensors and sensor systems measure the dimensions, contours, speeds, and distances involved in freight positioning, thereby optimizing transport routes and increasing handling safety for crane operators.

Detection

SICK's sensors provide assistance for controlling and maneuvering cranes and other vehicles. They detect containers and bulk materials that are to be picked up by transportation equipment and identify persons and objects in the vicinity of moving vehicles.
