PUWER is the UK implementation of the European Work Equipment Directive and is a legal requirement for every employer in the UK. The regulations are broken down into 39 regulations ranging from training, maintenance and inspection. SICK offer inspection of regulations 1 – 24 and will check your company’s compliance. If you are a manufacturer of machines or an end user, you have a legal requirement to have a Risk Assessment available for all machines. SICK offer a Risk Assessment service where we will work with the operator and maintenance staff to highlight and quantify all mechanical risks. If a hazard is not protected appropriately, we will offer a method of mitigation, thus ensuring the machine is as safe as possible.
If you are using Safety Laser Scanners or Light Curtains, you are required to ensure the hazard has come to a standstill before it can cause a risk to personnel. SICK will ensure the safety device is located at the correct distance from the hazard and installed correctly in order to comply with ISO 13855.
