Detection reliability using innovative technologies

High-performance technology is the norm for the photoelectric sensors in the product families W4F, W16 and W26. A wide range of innovative functions enables reliable detection of reflective, uneven, perforated, transparent and depolarizing objects:

TwinEye technology

TwinEye technology offers maximum operational safety for shiny, reflective and even jet black objects. Two receivers in one sensor provide much higher levels of detection reliability. The sensor only changes its output state if both receivers measure the same detection result. In this manner, the W16 and W26 not only reliably detect very shiny and high-contrast objects, but also uneven surfaces.

LineSpot technology

LineSpot technology: Single Line

The LineSpot technology in the W16 product family ensures that perforated, textured, and uneven objects can be reliably detected. The light spot, which has been extended to form a line, allows optical information to be provided about irregularities, such as gaps or rough surfaces.

LineSpot technology: Double Line

Objects with openings and recesses such as printed circuit boards, or objects with uneven, reflective surfaces such as yogurt containers are effortlessly and safely detected using the DoubleLine sensor of the W4F. Two logically and intelligently linked photoelectric proximity sensors with background suppression form two line-shaped light spots that ensure consistent and robust detection results in a miniature housing.

ClearSens technology

In the case of transparent objects, such as glass bottles or cling film, ClearSens technology guarantees the best perspective. The right detection mode can be set directly on the device according to the object characteristics and attenuation. If the reflector or the front screen of the sensor is contaminated, the photoelectric sensor automatically repositions its switching thresholds thanks to AutoAdapt, thus always providing the highest levels of detection reliability.

Optical filter

The new photoelectric sensors have a high ambient light immunity which makes them immune to LEDs or reflections from high-visibility vests. They are also suitable for reliable detection of depolarizing objects such as film-covered containers or parcel tape. The signals received are similar to those from the reflector which explains why switching errors used to occur in common technological designs.

FGS technology

The WTF4F, WTF16 and WTF26 photoelectric proximity sensors with foreground suppression reliably detect flat, low remission, reflective and uneven objects such as displays or labels on conveyor belts. Thanks to its high performance dual LED, the WTF4F can detect relevant objects starting at a thickness of 0.8 mm. The WTF16 and WTF26 product families demonstrate their particular strength at larger sensing ranges. Commissioning is remarkably quick and easy using the teach-in button provided.

V-optics

The V-optics technology incorporated into the WTV4F helps the device independently detect highly reflective and transparent objects such as wafers and displays by means of a laser-like microspot. This makes it no longer necessary to set up a photoelectric retro-reflective sensor for applications in confined spaces, which saves costs and allows a simpler machine design. In applications that used to require reflectors, the W4F also utilizes the reflection from the surface of the object. V-optics operates with a high reserve factor, which makes detection and positioning tasks especially safe even under demanding conditions.
