Solution option 1: Muting with safety light curtain, photoelectric safety switch, or safety laser scanner

Securing a machine with a muting system, comprising a protective device combined with muting sensors (e.g., photoelectric retro-reflective sensors). The placement of the muting sensors means that the material to be transported is detected as such and the protective device is given a time limit and bridged depending on the process. People are safely detected. Safety light curtains, multiple light beam safety devices, or safety laser scanners are suitable safety sensors.

Solution option 2: Pattern detection with safety light curtain

Example: Pattern recognition using a safety light curtain

A horizontal safety light curtain protects input and output points without muting sensors. With the self-teaching dynamic pattern detection, the safety light curtain can reliably differentiate between humans and material. Without any additional secondary sensors, it is able to reliably distinguish between permitted object patterns and, for example, a person's legs. The light curtain tolerates faults due to small objects, such as electric cables or foil residues which protrude into the protective field. This solution offers maximum safety combined with the highest availability.
