Neugart sets the course for a more efficient material flow
In the world of assemble-to-order, one principle applies today more than ever: Those who manage material flows transparently, efficiently and in a networked manner gain a clear advantage – one that extends far beyond productivity and delivery reliability. As one of the leading manufacturers of precision gearboxes, Neugart GmbH does just that. The company has taken a significant step toward the future at its Kippenheim site.
Instead of relying on manual bookings and rigid processes, the company sought out a solution that would intelligently accompany the material flow. The solution had to be automatic, demand-driven and able to be seamlessly integrated. A system that meets these requirements was developed in collaboration with automation expert SICK, and it redefines intralogistics.
At its core, the solution combines UWB-based localization, a central software platform for connecting ERP and machine data, and an automated control system for AGV transport orders. The result is a complete, digital map of the entire material flow. This system offers more transparency, automates bookings and enables material transport with almost no delays.
“The new solution allows us to control the material flow in a flexible, needs-based way in line with the pull principle – and has increased our productivity in the long term,” says Holger Obergföll, CEO of Neugart GmbH. In the video, he explains how the solution has fundamentally revolutionized day-to-day business and describes which advantages his team benefits from in particular. From the proof-of-concept phase to complete implementation, Neugart’s success story impressively shows how new technologies can be integrated in order to achieve more efficient workflows. The positive effects were apparent after only a short period of operation: Material moves faster, intralogistics areas are used more dynamically and economically, and search efforts are reduced. Booking errors are a thing of the past and the team is able to concentrate on value-adding tasks.
There are also many other exciting things to discover at SICK – for example, the new generation of real-time localization systems: the UWB-based, omlox-compliant Coriva System and CorivaHub. Coriva is a central software solution for converting location data into standardized, globally consistent geo-coordinates.
