Smart Motor Sensors

Get to the heart of things with insider information from Smart Motor Sensors

With its Smart Motor Sensors, SICK provides information directly from the center of production. This is information about the status of machines and servomotors that helps to detect malfunctions earlier, solve them more quickly or to avoid them entirely. SICK has once again applied its entire knowledge base to allow customers this insight and to therefore facilitate predictive maintenance procedures.

Automation and optimization throughout the building

Every building and every application places individual requirements on the sensors it uses. SICK uses its comprehensive industry knowledge and a wide range of individual sensors, complete systems, and services to manage your building in an optimum manner: linear encoders ensure that elevators are precisely positioned and Motion Control safety controllers monitor the speed of escalators and moving sidewalks. Photoelectric sensors control barriers and roller shutters, and light grids are used to separate people at lock gates. RFID technology with long sensing ranges enable fast and automatic management of vehicles in parking facilities.

Leave unauthorized parkers out in the cold

Even in the largest parking garages, spaces are limited. But what can we do when the barriers open of their own accord and grant access to everyone? The specialists from Card Service AG, based in Muri in Switzerland, have the solution – and it involves RFID technology from SICK.

SICK helps Billy Elliot take flight

Dutch production company Stage Entertainment continues its successful series, earning three musical prizes for “Billy Elliot - The Musical”. Silicon Theatre Scenery (STS), based in De Kwakel, Netherlands and the company put in charge of the theater equipment, also contributed to this success. The showpiece of STS is called “Hempy”. This is the machine that allows Billy Elliot to fly while dancing. Encoders and motor feedback systems from SICK determine, check and monitor the position of all the scenery parts and lifting/lowering equipment.

Sensors from SICK are ideal for application monitoring of persons and objects. The large selection of photoelectric sensors, light grids and 2D LiDAR sensors offers the right sensor for every task.

In the field of safety, sensors and systems from SICK ensure that safety requirements are met in compliance with applicable laws and standards. They efficiently protect hazardous areas and enable the highest plant availability at the same time.

SICK RFID read/write devices reliably read transponders for access control. This ensures that only persons or vehicles with access authorization can enter certain buildings or areas.

Position determination

Sensors from SICK ensure maximum positioning accuracy, reproducibility, speed and optimal PSDI times. Its comprehensive portfolio of distance sensors, encoders and vision sensors allow optimal adaptation to the requirements of the respective applications.
