Waste-to-energy incineration plants include hazardous waste and sewage sludge incineration plants, and the incineration of household waste. The term biomass covers all kinds of organic compounds such as food and agricultural waste. This also includes contaminated wood waste, which may contain organic, halogenated compounds, or metals.
