SICK’s smart factory – that was the Hannover Messe 2017

04-may-2017

Under the motto “Driving your industry 4ward”, SICK presented its own smart factory at the Hannover Messe 2017 for the efficient production of batch size 1 and showed what is already possible regarding Industry 4.0. The future is already reality – with programmable cameras, intelligent sensors, RFID read/write devices, and intelligent safety solutions that are connected with one another via a cloud and apps.

SICK enables self-learning and the adaptability of machines in the production process with decentralized intelligence (edge computing) and cloud intelligence. Various screens and dashboards gave visitors to the stand insights into the data and cloud operations of the intelligent factory.

Industry 4.0 live

Cameras that can be directly programmed via the AppSpace expand their range of functions automatically via self-learning apps whose calculated results are also available to other sensors via a global network: Production programs are adapted, e.g. in response to incoming orders, and compared with warehouse stocks. Sensors document all relevant events, ensuring transparency and safety.

But that is not all: The visitors experienced close-up how a special give-away was produced live according to their specific wishes and handed over to them by a robot.

The SICK smart factory shows how intelligent and reliable sensor data can already solve the challenges of Industry 4.0 in a variety of fields of activity. Using sensor solutions from SICK, customers can detect their reality in data form and use this information in a targeted way for their applications.
