Advantages

The benefits of laser-based identification

When reading 1D codes, laser-based fixed mount barcode scanners combine flexibility, reliability and cost efficiency in just one device. With aperture angles of up to 60 degrees, most conveyor belt widths can be covered flexibly with just one scanner and the barcodes on the objects can be reliably identified. The technology is particularly reliable and insensitive to ambient light.

- Variable reading distances thanks to high depth of field and large reading field

- Stable read quality, even with changing ambient light

- Reliable reading of foil-protected codes and other reflective surfaces

- No additional illumination required

- High read rates can be achieved in start-stop applications

- Quick and easy integration

Successful reading always counts in the end

No matter which conditions exist on site – whether sub-zero temperatures, strong vibrations, poor illumination, strong ambient light or objects with difficult-to-read codes – reliable identification is crucial. Fixed mount barcode scanners perform heavy-duty work with ease and ensure reliability at a consistently high level.
For space-saving integration When installation space is limited, the compact design of the fixed mount barcode scanners really pays off and makes installation easy.
For large working ranges The large depth of field reliably covers a wide range of code sizes at varying reading distances. This means that one device is enough for most applications. Thanks to the auto focus function, there is no need for an upstream sensor system for focus switching.
For difficult-to-read barcodes The oval light spot easily detects codes that are printed with low contrast or are out of focus – even with direct part marks (DPM) on structured surfaces.
For challenging environments Cleaning at high temperatures, with high pressure or aggressive cleaning agents is not a problem thanks to Inox stainless-steel housing and IP69K. The optional plastic pane and Ecolab certifications also make identification possible in HACCP areas.
For fast temperature changes Reliable barcode reading: Thanks to integrated or surface-mounted heating, this is also possible without a problem in deep-freeze environments down to –35 °C. When the temperature changes from cold to warm and vice versa, heated front screens ensure maximum reliability.
For shiny objects Barcodes on or under shiny materials such as foil can be read reliably through the polarizing filter. This eliminates the need for angled mounting with the associated space requirements.

At home in many industries

Whether at high speed, with tight installation space or varying code sizes: The requirements are as varied as the application options. The goal is always reliable identification of 1D codes, regardless of the respective applications and their ambient conditions.
Storage and conveyor technology Fixed mount barcode scanners also read low-contrast codes on containers, cardboard boxes or pallets that do not always move past the sensor at the same distance. Even stacked containers can be detected simultaneously with the oscillating mirror variant. With the help of the dual-port variant, scanners can also be connected to each other in a fail-safe ring topology. This ensures high flexibility for track and trace applications in intralogistics processes.
Packaging Fixed mount barcode scanners are used in packaging processes to check code quality and readability. If necessary, faulty barcodes can be quickly relabeled, which prevents expensive recalls. Code matching can also be performed for traceability without confusion.
Airports, courier, express, parcel, and postal (CEP) Throughput is a key economic factor in sorting and delivery processes. This means fixed mount barcode scanners deliver optimum results even at high conveyor speeds. The CLV6 series scanners can be flexibly integrated one by one or in a system and adapted to the requirements of the application. This reduces manual interruption to a minimum and increases system throughput as well as the cost efficiency of the processes.
Health care manufacturing It must be possible to clearly assign patient samples at all times, and also to process them quickly. That is why high time pressure meets zero error tolerance in laboratory automation. The CLV6 series is designed exactly for this type of error-free detection at high speed. Thanks to its compact design and side or front viewing windows, it is possible to integrate them even into systems with tight spaces.
Food industry Every process step must be precisely documented to ensure traceability along the entire supply chain. Whether in wet, dry or deep-freeze areas, during processing, filling or packaging, fixed mount barcode scanners reliably read barcodes even under harsh and changing conditions and contribute to greater process transparency.
Industrial vehicles Manual scanning of load carriers is a thing of the past. Fixed mount barcode scanners automatically identify loads on industrial vehicles such as manned forklift trucks or AGVs. The driver can see whether the load and order match using a display. Even in highly fluctuating ambient temperatures or in deep-freeze areas down to –35 °C. Vibrations and quick changes of direction are also no problem for the rugged devices.

Flexible reading plus additional data: A question of the system System solutions are always in demand when the code position on the object varies greatly, meaning up to six sides have to be covered for code identification. With a modular system setup, solutions can be customized that, in addition to classic code recognition, can also record certified logistics data such as volume and weight if required.
The future has a home: 4Dpro SICK is combining a wide range of identification and machine vision solutions under the umbrella of the 4Dpro. The connection technology, user interface and accessory concept of the solutions are uniform. This also means that all sensors, including accessories, are compatible with each other. This reduces the number of components required and offers precisely the flexibility needed for efficient automation – with minimal integration work and lower storage costs.
