Measuring gas consumption in engines

LNG carrier are using their pay load also as a fuel for the onboard gas engines. The internal gas consumption lowers the total value of the cargo shipped. Therefore, a high-precision flow measurement in the fuel gas preparation unit upstream of the engines is often required for fiscal purposes. The FLOWSIC600-XT ultrasonic gas flow meter from SICK does not feature any mechanically operated parts and is therefore well suited for the use on vessels or any other floating unit.
