SICK makes a significant contribution to promoting research and developing state-of-the-art technology through its close cooperation with universities, technical colleges, and institutes. As a partner of the Waldkirch Employment and Qualification Company “WABE gGmbh”, SICK opens up new horizons for young people with no real qualifications.

Freiburg University, Germany – “Gisela and Erwin Sick Chair of Microoptics”

The agreement between Albert Ludwigs University Freiburg and SICK AG is the largest joint project to date and was signed on December 10, 2012. The “Gisela and Erwin Sick Chair of Microoptics” began on January 1, 2013. The professorship will be financed for a period of ten years with a total of one million euros.

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology

SICK is a partner company of the Karlsruhe School of Optics & Photonics (KSOP) and finances scholarships relating to the “Nachwuchsförderung Optische Technologien” project for funding new optical technologies.

Dresden University of Technology

SICK is involved in the national scholarship award at Dresden University of Technology, where the SICK “Nachwuchsförderpreis” award for young talent in the field of measuring and testing technology and the SICK doctoral prize were also awarded in 2014.

Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences

SICK is a member of the Friends of Furtwangen University Funding Association and supports the committee with the appointment of professors. The university even employs several SICK employees as lecturers.

RWTH Aachen University

SICK is a partner of the Institute for Industrial Management (FIR) on the Logistics Cluster campus at RWTH Aachen University. The purpose of the cluster is to conduct research into the complex relationships between logistics, production, and services. Further to this involvement, SICK is also a member of the university's Research Advisory Board.
