Packaging of medications

Packaging of medications

Tablets in blister packs need to be printed with brand labels and correct use-by dates, and also allow easy individual removal. What seems  simple as an end-product makes complex demands on the packaging process. Accurate filling, precise sealing, detection of breaks, and freedom from dust are examples of criteria that must be met.

Stretchwrapping machines

Stretchwrapping machines

Wrappers apply protective film around packaged containers of product. SICK offers a wide range of solutions for wrapper machines. Photoelectric sensors detect the position of containers before they enter a wrapper. On shrink wrappers, sensors confirm the container is in the correct position, determine that the correct number of containers are available for the bundle and perform other quality assurance procedures. Retro-reflective and diffuse photoelectric sensors determine pallet presence, height, and wrap presence or completion on stretchwrappers. After the products are wrapped, sensors may be used for edge detection for pallet overhang
