Safety locking devices are used for keeping protective devices safely locked until a hazardous area can be entered. They are intended for applications in which there is an immediate danger to people due to follow-on movements, for example when a door is opened, or if an uncontrolled intervention in the process would have serious consequences. There are two restraint types: In spring force locking, the protective device is held closed by spring force. In magnetic force locking, the protective device is held closed by activation of the magnetic coil. SICK offers a wide variety of products in the area of safety locking devices. The products differ in terms of their type, restraint type and electrical design.
