SICK is the only company to offer a high-resolution absolute encoder, with 18 bit resolutions on the AFS60 and 30 bit resolutions on the AFM60. The AFS60 Singleturn and AFM60 Multiturn Programmable Absolute Encoders with SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) offer increased durability and customization options at the click of a button. A new, revolutionary bearing design and metal code disc give these encoders a longer encoder lifetime than most competitive versions, reducing replacement costs and the number of encoders customers need in inventory. The AFS60 singleturn version can be programmed to accommodate any value from 1 to 262,144 counts per revolution - something no other encoder can do. |

Benefits
- Improved bearing design and metal code disk provide longer encoder lifetime, reducing costs
- Increased customization options reduce the number of encoders needed in inventory
- IP 67 housing rating withstands harsh environments, enables more reliable use
Features
AFS/AFM60
- Metal code disk ideal for rugged environments
- High resolution absolute encoders with 18-bit single turn and 30-bit multiturn
- Increased bearning lifetime
- Flexible use through programmable version
- Flexible mounting options
- Temperature range: -20°C to +100°C
- Connection system: M12 and M23 plugs, plug-in cable outlet in radial and axial directions
- Enclosure rating IP 67 (housing) and IP 65 (shaft)
Applications
- Packaging: Used in palletizers, bag forming, filling and sealing machines, and labeling and folding machines.
Robotics: Position control and collision avoidance. Some typical applications are assembly machines, AGVs, paint spraying, and welding robots.
AGV: Provide position feedback and monitor all axes of direction. These encoders are useful for preventing collisions with other vehicles and delivering product to an exact location.
General Manufacturing: Whenever positional feedback or speed monitoring is necessary, the AFS60 or AFM60 can be used and customized for specific applications.
