General Description of Job: Responsibilities include the hands-on design & support of SICK products through entire product lifecycle. The Product Development Engineer will use their skills to capture customer requirements, devise appropriate solutions & evaluate results for function, reliability & performance. Work with a multi-national team to design new product offerings and enhance performance of existing production lines
Requirements of Job: • Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field with proven equivalent experience• Minimum of seven- (7) year's professional experience in software design • Perform independent work and supervision on large assignments requiring experience and a high degree of judgment. May direct the work of other engineers• Strong analytical, design, debugging and decision making skills.• Demonstrated oral and written communications skills• Design and development experience with C, C++, C#, or Java for embedded 8, 16 and 32 bit micro-controllers• Design and development experience with script based languages such as LUA, Python or Perl• Design and development experience with application frameworks such as .NET, embedded Linux and Real Time Operating Systems.• Development and debugging experience with in-circuit emulators, JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and protocol analyzers• Experience with embedded driver implementations: RS-232, I2C, CAN, SPI, Ethernet• Experience with industrial protocol implementations: Profibus/ProfiNet, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP, EtherCat, etc• Responsible to keep current of new technologies. Customizes existing technology into designs of new products.• Experience in PLC logic and programming and HMI (Human Machine Interface) or SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) programming and configuration desired.• Determine and take responsibility for software related qualification requirements for product approval• Ability to lead multidiscipline projects; provide project schedules, define working packages, cost estimates and report status to project leaders and management.• Ability to balance workload to keep multiple projects progressing to completion.• Ability to thoroughly understand technical issues and provide solutions to resolve issues.• Experience in industrial automation environment desired• Travel requirements (international and domestic): 10%
Responsibilities of Job:• Author and review of product requirements, software architecture specifications and module level design specifications• High level requirements analysis and hands-on embedded software design and development • Ensure all software/system tasks (changes, enhancements, testing, documentation) necessary for supporting current SICK product families are performed in a timely manner and with a high level of quality• Responsible for systems level design using vision, barcode or laser based identification, specification, programming, simulation and testing, and application start-up assistance.• Develop and execute tests to verify the operation, reliability and performance of embedded software using in-circuit emulators, JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and protocol analyzers.• Analyze test results and isolate identified problems to be design related, quality related, or application related.
