History 

Founded in 1946, near Munich, Germany, SICK is now a global company with numerous subsidiaries and affiliated companies, agencies and sales offices, and is one of the leading producers of sensors and sensor solutions.

It all began with revolutionary applications in optics – SICK is now a technological pioneer in all areas of automation technology, safety systems, automatic identification, and analysis and process measurement.

SICK, Inc., the North American subsidiary of SICK was established in 1976. Our headquarters are located in Minneapolis, MN and we have sales offices throughout the U.S. and Canada. Our goal is to help our clients achieve their goals: high production rates, short processing times, safe environments and consistent high quality.

"A passionate inventor and unwilling businessman" is how Dr. Erwin Sick (1909 - 1988) described himself. He systematically acquired his expertise in the areas of mechanics, optics and electrical technology, until he founded his own company.
