Safety engineering with Safexpert 5.5: StandardManager ensures standards and directives are up-to-date Waldkirch, November 2007 - SICK has added the “StandardManager” to its range of software for the safety engineering of machines and plant. The obligations of complying with currently valid standards and directives, and keeping corporate data up-to-date, are easily met with the StandardManager. Simple search, set-up and filter functions provide a rapid overview. The user obtains direct information on what has changed in the world of standards, directives and regulations – without time-consuming and tedious searching.
Implementing exclusively up-to-date standards and directives is vital for valid CE conformity. Which is why the StandardManager can be integrated in the CE process as a supplement to Safexpert 5.5. At the click of a mouse it checks the topicality of the standards and directives applied for running and imported projects. Search results can be directly transferred from the StandardManager to projects in Safexpert.
The StandardManager offers access to more than 2 million data sets via an online database. The data packages are updated monthly in order to ensure that the user always works with the right information. Whether a current standard, a withdrawn directive or a regulation with a transition period – the results of the research and the status checks, as well as the content of any amendments, are shown on the monitor within a few seconds. The answer to the question of which standard is affected is rapidly found. The task of knowing, maintaining and implementing up-to-date documents is made easier with the StandardManager.
Online access to flexibly combinable data packages that are always up-to-date
Internet access is necessary in order to set-up and update the StandardManager, and so that the desired data can be accessed online. Company-specific favourites can be defined from the data packages purchased. These favourites are then available locally as an offline information supplier. Updating takes place online via the info server.
The data are combined to form individually available packages that are updated monthly, are structured according to the issuers of the standards, directives and regulations, and include some links to the full texts. The MRL-EU data package for conformity with the Machine Directive, the EU-Plus data package for conformity with the low-voltage, EMC, Atex and pressure devices directives, and MRL-DE for the standards and regulations that supplement the 9th GPSGV (the Equipment and Product Safety Act) are particularly important in the area of machine and plant construction. Further data packages provide the regulations of the IEC, the IEEE or ISO. Country-specific data packages are also available, e.g. AFNOR for France, SNV and Electrosuisse for Switzerland, ON/ÖVE for Austria, ANSI and UL for the USA, or JIS for Japan.
Safety Engineering with the Safexpert StandardManager: rapid results instead of long searches – and nothing overlooked.
