Muting and pattern detection as safe alternative solutions
Those using safety technology nowadays also demand economic efficiency. This is particularly the case for access protection during automated material transport, e.g. into a robot cell or vertical hoisting gear. A hitherto impossibly broad range of potential applications can now be covered by a selection of proven solutions and new concepts.

>> This is demonstrated by SICK’s optoelectronic Entry/Exit solutions, including the C4000 Palletizer safety light curtain and the new M4000 Advanced multiple light beam safety device, among others. They are Type 4 in compliance with IEC 61496 and SIL3 according to IEC 61508. They allow access protection to be set up in such a way that not only does it not impair machine performance and process efficiency, but actually increases them. The Entry/Exit product portfolio from SICK has been specially designed for distinguishing between persons and material or between walking and transportation. Whereby the C4000 Palletizer and the M4000 family are two different, in practice complementary, alternative solutions as they take differing technological approaches – pattern recognition
and muting. You can find out how the two solutions work, and where their particular advantages lie, on at www.sick.de/infopool
