The BKS/PKS/XKS Encoders are similar to the BTF/PRF wire draw encoders, but have a different mechanical design than our other wire draw encoders. The new encoders are directly mounted to the wire draw mechanism, eliminating additional accuracy deviations from a shaft coupling.

• The BKS wire draw encoders provide an absolute output, with a SSI interface.
• The PKS wire draw encoders provide an incremental 5-volt TTL signal.
• The XKS wire draw encoders give an incremental output with a HIPERFACE® interface. The XKS encoder can be used with corresponding adapters to use Profibus, DeviceNet and CANopen interfaces.
• The BKS/PKS/XKS are available in 2 m and 5 m versions capable of 800,000 cycles each.

The number of drum rotations, which is proportional to the length being measured, is counted by an encoder and converted to a standard encoder output signal. This provides high-resolution position or distance information for linear measurement paths, even under difficult mounting conditions.

The BKS/PKS/XKS Encoders are easy to install and use and so they are ideal for the most complex linear positioning applications.
