The VMS520 Sorter volume measurement system is currently the world’s only certified system for measuring cuboid and irregularly shaped objects on a tray sorter. It is used in high-performance sorting plants at courier, express and parcel service providers (CEP) as well as in automated distribution and handling centers. In addition to the possibilities provided for freight invoicing and the creation of transport documents, the dimensional values obtained improve a variety of handling processes, e.g. the stacking of boxes. Approved-for-trade complete system for all common sorters
The VMS520 Sorter complete solution consists of a gantry frame with two laser measurement devices and electronic evaluation with alibi memory for long-term data storage, as well as an approved display for measurement values and system status messages. The system is suitable for all common sorters and for conveyor speeds of up to 3 m/s. Objects with dimensions of 1600 x 1000 x 1000 mm can be measured. As a result of the accuracy of the VMS520 Sorter, it can be approved for trade on the basis of the OIML (Organisation Internationale de Métrologie Légale – the International Organization for Legal Metrology) and the MID (Measuring Instruments Directive). Cuboid objects can be measured to within 5 mm for each side, while measurements for irregularly shaped objects are accurate to within 10 mm per dimension.
