Fertilizer

Fertilizers are still major products of the chemical industry worldwide. Basically fertilizers consist of nitrates and phosphates. Nitrates are made of nitric acid and ammonia. Phosphates are produced by decomposition of phosphate minerals with sulfuric acid. The basic products for the production of fertilizers are:

Production of Ammonia

Ammonia is produced by a catalytical reaction according to the Haber-Bosch process. Basic materials are nitrogen and hydrogen. The NH3 emissions of the production facilities are continuously monitored. Our solution:

Production of Nitric Acid

Emission monitoring plays an important role in  the production process of nitric acid. Whereas components such as NO and NO2 were monitored in the past, the focus now has been shifted to the reduction of greenhouse gases and monitoring of N2O. Our solution:

  • Analyzing systems MKAS with analyzer GMS800 with module DEFOR

Production of Sulfuric Acid according to the Contact Process

Sulfuric acid is one of the most important basic chemicals. During production according to the contact process SO2 is catalytically converted to SO3. The SO2 concentration in the process is in the higher vol% range. Its continuous monitoring is made photometrically with GMS800 at room temperature or with MCS300P at higher temperatures. The emission of the process can be monitored with SICK measuring technology. Our solution:
  • SO2-measurement: NDIR analyzer GMS800 or analyzer MCS300P
  • Emission monitoring: Analyzing systems MKAS
